These handsome wool blankets feature contemporary Native designs from artists of the Haida and Coast Salish culture. Ideal for conference attendees, cruise ships, government agencies and overseas visitors.
All blankets are Italian jacquard , capturing the richness of color and design of the originals. Bordered with double stitched, hand-swen compementary felt edging and hand trimmed for the ultimate finished look. Acrylic/wool/polyester, packaged in the maker's branded cardboard suitcase box.
The Native Art Series designs include:
"Dream Time" - a bold red and black design depicting classic Haida images by renowned Haida artist James Hart, created in collaboration with the Canadian Museum of Civilization.
"Sulsila" - which means "The Grandparents" and signifies a Coast Salish welcome. The original blanket was commissioned by and hangs in the Vancouver International Airport.
"The Beginning" - This is the first blanket created by the Sparrow Sisters who have been creating Salish weavings for 20 years, and it signifies the continuation of their ancestors' work.The original of this blanket is on display at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau.
