These handsome wool blankets are handcrafted in British Columbia and feature contemporary Native designs from artists of the Haida and Coast Salish culture. Blankets are 45% acrylic, 25% wool, 25% polyester.
The Native Art Series designs includes:
"Sulsila": The word means "The Grandparents" and signifies a Coast Salish welcome. The original blanket was commissioned by and hangs in the Vancouver International Airport.
"The Beginning": In tones of grey, the original blanket is a classic design currently on display at The Canadian Museum of Civilization. This is the first in a series of Salish blankets created by sisters Debra and Robyn Sparrow, inspired by the designs of their ancestors.
"Dream Time": a bold red and black design depicting classic Haida images by renowned Haida artist James Hart, internationally recognized for reinventing traditional Haida art with a contemporary abstract style that has become his trademark.
Robert Davidson series: The superb art of Robert Davidson's silk screen prints (Eagle, Beaver, and Moon designs) has been exquisitely recreted in embroidery with contemporary and traditional Haida colours. Each premium quality wool blanket is beautifully bordered with a double stitched, hand-sewn felt edging in a complementary colour.
Woven Chilkat blanket: This blanket is a reproduction of an original weaving by Tlingit weavers of Alaska's Chilkat River that is in the collection of the Canadian Museum of Civilization. The "Diving Whale" pattern has been recreated in a three layer cotton throw.
Wool blankets are packaged in a sturdy cardboard sleeve box. The cotton throw is packaged in a clear vinyl zippered bag.
