Blending her love for decorative painting and cut paper work, Canadian artisan Sylvia Racine creates romantic cut and pierced paper lampshades and coordinates them with antique reproduction glass hurricane bases.

By day, the subtle cream toned paper shade with its raised cutwork, colourful grosgrain ribbon trim, and potpourri filled glass base adds feminine charm to a dresser, desk, or table top. At night, with the lamp aglow, the pastel tones of the shade's underpainting come alive, accented by darts of light piercing through the paper cutwork.

These shades are made with particularly fine attention to detail and excellent workmanship. First, the delicate floral design is painted in light washes of acrylic on the inside of the paper before the pattern is hand cut and pierced. The shade is assembled along with a protective paper liner, and the top and bottom edges are neatly trimmed with satin grosgrain ribbon. As a finishing touch, the hurricane lamp base is filled with a colour-coordinated blend of potpourri.

The manufactured glass hurricane lamp base is fully electrified, CSA approved, and takes a standard 60 watt bulb.

Note: Upon order, your shade and lamp will be created to your unique specifications as you choose the cutwork design, glass base, and colour of trim and potpourri blend.

Cut & pierced shade is also available on its own, painted or unpainted. Fits a standard glass hurricane chimney.
