Needing
to use a cane doesn't mean you have to look or feel old! Canadian
artisan Ken Pettigrew designs and creates walking
sticks and canes that are elegant and fun as well as functional!
The Regency
style handle on this model has a fairly large knob at the
end which makes it very comfortable to hold, particularly
for those people with weak or arthritic hands. The handle
can be left plain or carved. Birds are the most popular choice,
but almost anything can be added.
Securely
glued with steel rods reinforcing the handle/shaft joint,
the handle is mounted on the cane's shaft. The shaft is smooth
(ie. turned).
Both the
oak or maple handle and shaft are custom stained and given
a durable protective finish with four coats of Spar varnish.
Stain colours include: Dark Walnut, Antique Cherry, Puritan
Pine, and Ebony.
Additional
options include choice of a brass or rubber cane tip, a colour-coordinated
wrist strap, and monogramming. The hand-carved monogram appears
on the end of the handle, under where your palm would be.
