About the Artist
Born in Baie Comeau, Quebec of Welsh immigrant parents,
Lynette has been fascinated by Native Canadian cultures since
childhood. Her artwork reflects this interest, as well as
the influence of both her Celtic heritage and her love of
the Canadian wilderness, through which she has travelled thousands
of miles by paddle.
After graduating from the University of Ottawa, Lynette worked
in the adventure sport and graphic arts fields until taking
time out to raise her family. Presently she creates out of
her newly renovated home studio.
Her Work
In her work, Lynette blends the translucent qualities
of the centuries old stained glass art form with space age
materials and an innovative new process.
Her unique art form, which she terms "Acrylart",
combines the use of clear sheet acrylic, transparent glass
paints and inlaid lead to achieve the vibrancy of stained
glass artwork through the versatility of her paintbrushes.
These materials were developed over 40 years ago in Britain
in order to continue the tradition of stained glass on thermally
sealed window panes. Unrestricted by traditional glass cutting
and assembling methods, Lynette's all-original designs are
unique to this field of artistic expression.
In addition to its unlimited design versatility and skillful
craftmanship, an Acrylart panel offers some unexpected benefits.
Light in weight, strong (they're virtually unbreakable),
and affordable, an Acrylart panel may be mounted or displayed
where stained glass is a less practical option, or perhaps
not an option at all. This flexibility makes Lynette's work
a perfect decorative touch for a child's room, a glass panelled
door, a hard to reach window, a seasonal home and, maybe,
just the spot you've been thinking of!
